Recently, A 78 Year-Old Man Found A Lost Two Year-Old Boy.
He Retired, At Age 65, From Owning A Successful Fish Market.
For The Next 13 Years He Dedicated His Life Volunteering For Others.
From Kyushu, He Drove 13 Hours To Help Find The Three-Day Lost Boy.
And
this, Haruo Obata did, within
two hours after arriving at the scene on an island in Yamaguchi
Prefecture. There, the young boy had gone to the beach with his
grandfather. Soon,
wanting to go home, which was only 200 yards away, the grandfather
said, O.K. But
enroute, young Yoshiki spied
an attractive trail, and promptly climbed
600 yards where
he rested by a stream for three days!
During
this time 140
policemen, neighbors
and relatives
were franticly searching for Yoshiki. They
were beginning to give up hope when 78 year Haruo arrived.
Remembering that two
year-old year toddlers like to climb rather than go downhill, he
climbed the same trail Yoshiki
had taken, calling out his name. At 600 meters he heard a
plaintive, “I’m here.” After
a little search there was Yoshiki, sitting on a rock, long ago
having discarded his pants. Fortunately
it had been a quite warm three days, and for
survival
Yoshiki
drank from the
stream. Tucking Yoshiki into
his vest, (they never did find his
pants) Haruo retraced
the downhill 600 yards, to an overjoyed mother and searching party.
Everyone
thought a miracle from God (or Buddha) had come true!
Two
year-old
Yoshiki and 78
year-old Haruo became
Japan’s heros. One, for surviving
with no training for 68 hours and the other, for alertly finding the
survivor. It's
a great story of humans in action, never too young to meet life, and
never too old to
enjoy and be productive in life!
The above are pictures are Haruo Obata with a dragon fly on his finger
and Yoshiki Fujimoto who knows how to survive.
